The blend of steel and gut is central in the open, acoustic, sound world of string duo Skogmo/Haanshus. Mixing Bendik Lund Haanshus' background as rhythmic and folk guitarist with that of Jørgen Skogmo's as a classically trained performer on the instruments theorbo and baroque guitar, the duo operates within a wide, almost boundless, expression of folk music, and the repertoire spans from hymns and tunes well rooted in Norwegian traditional music to their own compositions and arrangements in folk style. They embrace the simple and the intimate in their arrangements and in their expression, as well as the complex, the surprising and the incomprehensible.
